Something horrible has happened to Ange. She has a ... unique way of dealing with it: "You want to chase me around the room, catch me, and hold me down while you bite me."
"Basically. But you're allowed to make it difficult." She tried a smile. It felt lopsided. "The longer the chase, the sweeter the blood."
He swallowed, and she wondered what was going through his mind. "It's what you need?"
"'Need' is a strong word." She gave a tiny shrug. "It's a way I have of dealing. It helps."
"Then yes," he said instantly. "Yes, to all of it."
She crushed him to her. "Are you sure?"
His answer was slightly strangled. "As long as you let me breathe, yeah. Are there rules?"
"Only the ones you impose on yourself."
"Well, then." He twisted out of her arms and rolled off the bed. "Catch me if you can."
She'd give him this much--he made her work for it. He was fast and agile and sneaky, slippery as a bloody weasel, and just when she thought she had him, he'd pull some move that let him slither loose. He wasn't afraid of her nails, either, which left long scratches on him more than once. He'd not forgotten his Army training, and working for a private detective had only honed his skills.
She was stronger and faster than he was, though, and she finally tossed him face-first onto the bed. Before he could use the momentum to get more than halfway up, she landed on his back and captured his wrists, pinning them to either side of his head with more force than was strictly necessary. "Gotcha," she breathed into his ear. You know I love comments...

Last night I went to see Princess and the Frog at the Disney Studios. And OMG I loved it. I laughed, I cried, I ship Tiana and Naveen like crazy. They are now the hottest Disney couple. And Dr. Facilier is hot, I think it has something to do with his Keith David voice, mmmmm. I love that man's evil laugh. And I LOVE Charlotte, I'm so glad they actually gave her some character as opposed to just being a spoiled rich kid (and the animation on her was LOL). I kinda wish though the event had taken place at the El Capitan (which is now being taken over by Disney's Christmas Carol). The Studios was a nice place but it didn't have that grand overall look and feeling of the El Cap, like at the Enchanted event (best damn event ever). The best part was Brian bought me The Art of the Princess and the Frog book, EEEEEE! I must learn how to draw these characters, especially Charlotte. Oh and I woke up this morning and it was pouring rain, YAY! First time in ages! I must go find a Princess and the Frog icon now. Either Tiana or Facilier. <3 - Mood:happy

After 13 "dry" years, America officially repealed Prohibition (1933)
THE RED PHONE
During a visit to China in March 2007, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace announced that Washington and Beijing were considering installing an emergency hotline between the leaders of the two countries. Such hotlines tend to be known as "red phones," after the U.S.-Russia link established in 1963, following the potentially disastrous failures of communication during the Cuban missile crisis. (For example, it reportedly took the U.S. c.12 hours to receive and decode Khruschev's first settlement message, and the Soviet ambassador later disclosed that he handed messages to a bicycle courier, who in turn sent them via Western Union.) The "red phone" was actually used for the first time in 1967, when it helped prevent the Six Day War from escalating into a global conflict.
Initially, the "red phone" consisted of a set of teleprinters connected via transatlantic cable. In the 1970s, the teleprinters were replaced with actual phones and, later, satellite communications and facsimile transmission. Why the phone is "red" is the subject of some speculation. Moscow apparently called their side of the connection "the red telephone"--though whether this was because of its actual color, the urgency of its function, or a humorous allusion to political ideology, is unclear.

For those of you who read this on one of the mirror sites, YOU GUYS MADE IT SNOW. I am still very OMG about this, and not a little bit LOL. Okay, I think we have officially reached the point where I can no longer thank everyone individually for their snowflakes, but I am thanking you all in the snowglobe of my heart. :D And I have a present for you! The Doctor Who BBC ad I linked to the other day reminded twirlynoodle of a painting she'd done, and when she linked me to it I couldn't help but turn it into a desktop wallpaper for my computer at work. I've needed a new calendar for ages now... Click on the mini-version to access the full-size version, appropriate for 1280x1024 screens. It should be croppable to more rectangular screens as well. It is stamped with Twirly's signature in the lower-left (so please don't crop that out!), and she's approved me sharing it. Enjoy! Twirly says: "the INCREDIBLY DORKY ORIGIN of this image is that it was drawn in response to Mark Gatiss Week, in which I heard his Doctor Who documentary, the Worst Journey DVD came in, and BBC7 had both The Man in Black and On the Town with the League of Gentlemen. It was a good week. :D"

Yesterday was a busy day for the David Family. Peter went up to Sacred Heart for Ariel’s Winter Concert and met up with Gwen there. Caroline and I went into New York City to see the holiday sites and meet up with Peter to see The Princess and the Frog at the Ziegfeld with a trip to the a Disney exhibit as part of the package. We had dinner with Gwen at a very nice deli and went to see the movie. I am glad we went to see it when we did. It is nice to see a film where the entire audience wanted to be there. There were no cell phones in use during the movie in my range of vision. There were three generations of families sitting together watching the film. The reaction was very positive and the audience applauded at the end of the various musical numbers. At the end of the film, we hot-footed it to the Roseland Ballroom which was transformed into a Disney Wonderland. Caroline met all the princesses including Tiana and got to talk to them. Her face was glowing with happiness as were a lot of other little girls there as well. She did arts and crafts, played in a playground based on the Bayou as depicted in the film. We drew with one of the Disney Animators and got our picture taken as a family reacting to one of the characters in the film. We had a splendid Disney Evening. Behind the cut are my thoughts on the film. I am trying to stay away from spoilers and I ask that others leave it in rather broad strokes until the film opens nationally. ( Enchanting )I am grateful that we took Caroline to see this film for her birthday weekend.

Thank you for the snowflake cookie vgift! It's very nice.
As for the rest of today, I am awake; that ought to count for something. I made the mistake last night of drinking a can of Mountain Dew at around seven PM. It was cold, I was thirsty, and I wanted something carbonated rather than fruit juice. Turns out this was a bad idea. Man, what good is a massive caffeine tolerance if you can't sleep more than four hours in spite of a Mountain Dew?
